JOHN C. DERMOTT, 72, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Southlake Regional Health Centre on April 25, 2018. He was born May 8, 1945 in Alliston, the son of Bill and Merle Dermott.
Well known in the community, John spent most of his life as a farmer in Beeton, being one of the province’s top producers of rutabagas for many years. With a passion for reading history, he was a wealth of knowledge and a great conversationalist. He had a good sense of humour and loved to share and hear great jokes. Some of his favourite past times were gardening, walking and being in the sun and as any true Canadian would, John always loved a nice cold beer on a sunny day.
Survived by his wife Sheila (Dale), children Victor (Mary Jane), Brenda (Vaun), Bobby-Jo (Brent) and Jamie (Melanie) and grandchildren Gavin and Brooklyn, Brodi, and Isabelle, he will be missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends.
A Memorial service will be held at Drury Funeral Centre 519 Victoria St. E., Alliston on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at 1:00 p.m.
Those who wish to remember John in a special way may make gifts in his memory to Stevenson Memorial Hospital or to Matthews House Hospice in Alliston.
