Hanna, Jack Edward
Peacefully and surrounded by the love of his entire family, Jack Hanna passed away at Matthews House Hospice on Sunday, December 16 in his 89th year. Survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Elizabeth (Liz) and children Marg Alderson (Ron) of Vineland, Nancy McDowell (Ian) of Tillsonburg, Marianne Hare (Steve) of Creemore, and Dave Hanna (Jenn) of North Vancouver. Proud Grandpa (Papa, Gramps) of Lindsay (Ryan), Tyler (Rita), Becky (Eric), Rob (Kristin), Katelyn (Brandon), Jonathan, Chris (Roxy), Dexter and Mason and Great-Grandpa of Gavin and Mia. Also survived by his sister Mary Trillo of Collingwood, sister-in-law Margaret Prudence of Bridgewater, N.S. and many nephews and nieces to whom he was affectionately known as Good Old Uncle Jack. Predeceased by his parents, Albert and Blanche Hanna.
Jack was a graduate of OAC Guelph (1953) and was a teacher, vice-principal and principal of Banting Memorial and Bradford High Schools, a devoted member of St. Andrew’s Anglican Church and a lifelong member of the Kinsmen Club. He was also passionate about golf, a sport he was able to enjoy for 7 decades.
Visitation with the family will be on Friday, Dec 21 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Drury Funeral Centre, 519 Victoria St. E., Alliston. A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, 125 Wellington St. W., Alliston on Saturday, December 22 at 1:30 p.m. Reception to follow. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations (if desired) may be made to St. Andrew’s Anglican Church.
