Barb truly was an amazing person. Very little ever got her down or stopped her from doing what she believed was required. We have so many great memories (with pictures) of Barb. We will never forgot what a great person she was. Her memory will live on for many years to come as she was a great supporter of Riverwood Senior Living and her community. Our thoughts and prayers are with Barb's family during this time.

Hello Lisa, Blair, Jessica, and all the Nicol family,

Such a very long time since I last saw Barb, but I shall never forget her. I absolutely loved her honesty, amusing stories, and comments, and most of all her friendliness whenever our paths crossed. If I could, I would attend her service, but is not an option at this time. Love to all of you who loved her.

I was the Activity Director at Riverwood Senior Living for approximately 6 years. In my time there, Barb made me feel very welcomed and always willing to help. She was a true resident of Riverwood even moreso after her Mom Mona passed away. Barb got more involved in activities and such that interested her of course. But for myself if there was anything at all that I needed Barb was always there to offer a hand. She had the most kindest heart and compassion for people. Oh I'm sure there were some that crossed her path that she might not have liked, but for the most part she had a very big heart. One of the greatest memories I have of Barb is her contribution of "signatures" when Riverwood petitioned for physiotherapy to continue in Retirement Homes. She went downtown Alliston and went store to store, and stopped anybody and everybody for a signature. In doing so, Barb alone gathered more than 2500 names/signatures to add to our list. Barb was as passionate as I was in doing anything possible for Riverwood Senior Living. It showed in her and she was one of those "walk the walk, talk the talk" kind of people. She had nothing but good things to say about Riverwood and it was truly her home. Barb volunteered within Riverwood as much as possible and never let her eyesight become a problem from holding her back from doing anything. She volunteered in the Tuck shop at Riverwood and she participated in many activities of interest to her and she never stopped doing what she could not only for herself or for me but for others as well. Barb was a great lady. She would come to my office the end of every month to gather up the Activity Calendars and off she would go to distribute them throughout the building to other residents. Barb was a real true resident of Riverwood. She was an icon. She enjoyed her life there, and she enjoyed people. She always supported my activities and entertainment and offered her opinion and criticism and I never took it the wrong way. She will be truly missed. I extend my deepest condolences to Barb' s family, Susan who I became to know and Laurie I only knew mostly through Barb's talking and sharing stories. Barb was very proud of her family, all of them.. To ALL the family I send only my love and prayers, and please know that my heart became saddened when I heard the news. Love to you all,
Sincerely,
Kim Brown
