I am so very sorry to see this obituary on Sharon's Facebook. I am a Second Cousin to Doug. Although we have never met, we Maritimers still consider Family to be Family, no matter what the distance may be. My Grandmother Elsie and Doug's Grandmother Gwen were sisters. Most of the family is still here on Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia, and we all descended from the Morgans and Battens from Conception Bay Newfoundland. For many years my mother Evelyn would wonder what happened with her mom's sister Lil's family. Mom had only seen her Aunt Lil once in 1952, when there was a family reunion here in Louisbourg, Nova Scotia. After that, we lost contact. Fortunately, we connected through the wonders of Ancestry, and my 94 year old mother was overjoyed to find out that her Aunt Lilly had 9 children that she never knew about. One being Doug's mother Gwen. Gwen's brother, Cousin Leslie in California was the only one she had ever met. It is so obvious to me to see from the photo that we are family, as Doug is the image of my our cousin the late Roy Bussey. Roy's mother, Annie Morgan Bussey, was another sister to Doug's Grandmother Lil. On behalf of all of the family here in the Maritimes, my deepest condolences to all of the family. God Bless you all and may he give you peace at this sad time.

So sad it hear of Doug passing. He was one of my favorite cousins. Art and I saw him and Karen last year and we enjoyed laughing over memories of the families when we were young. Dear Karen and family want you to know Art and I will be thinking of you.
Love Lyn
