Ronald Christian Jorgensen
June 14 1945 - December 15 2019

Regretfully announcing the sudden passing of Ron, predeceased by his parents Harry and Rita, high school sweetheart and husband of 51 years to Leslie (Hubbert), cherished father of Christian (Sheena) and Ingrid Cochrane (Bryan). Proud grandfather to Robyn (Nick), Brittany (Cam), Colby, Victoria, Bailey(Lisa), Jake, Serah, Danika and Erik. Brother to Catherine (Fred) and Jane (Robert). Fondly remembered by his Rover family and brothers and sisters at the North York Fire Department (retired 1995). Ron was a man whose actions spoke louder than words, always sacrificing of himself to help others. Ron left this world a better place than which he found it. Dearly missed.

Visitation will be held at Harvest Bible Chapel 7 George St. Barrie, on Saturday December 21, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. until time of funeral service at 2:00 p.m.

If so desired memorial donations to the Canadian Fallen Firefighters Foundation would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him! Psalm 34:8

Ron was our beloved Brother and our children’s and grandchildren’s Uncle and he was always there if we needed him. We have so many good memories of our times together over the years. We all formed our very close bond with Ron and Leslie when they first married and lived with us for a short time.

To some, Ron appeared to be a procrastinator but he was in fact, a prolific planner. He would plan every project, for what some times seemed like forever, but when started, the actual work would proceed quite smoothly with only a few glitches thanks to his planning.

Ron was a builder - his home was truly his own, built by him - with his personal touches throughout. He was a precise person - everything he did was “perfect” or else!

Ron was an inventor or at least an innovator. If he needed a tool or “anything oddball” that was not available, it didn’t take him long to design and create it.

Ron was a gardener - he and Leslie were extremely innovative with their gardens and enjoyed creating wonderful displays every summer. He and Leslie really enjoyed entertaining at their home and in their garden with many friends and family enjoying their hospitality.

Ron especially loved to see the children and would always have a tractor and wagon ready for exciting rides through the woods. The children loved these rides and often reminisced about their “Uncle Ron’s forest rides”.

Ron was a gatherer. Oh how he loved to collect! (A Jorgensen trait). When his vehicles were no longer roadworthy they became storage sheds sprinkled about the property. This year he, with the help of his family, erected a storage quonset hut. This would bring his complete collection under one roof. Unfortunately, this was not to be.

Ron had so many more talents - window maker, roofer, stone mason, cabinetmaker, fireplace designer/builder, lumber jack, firewood splitter, plumber, electrician, etc. etc., all admirably performed with skill and pride.

Ron could be a bit stubborn at times but was always willing to listen and absorb other people’s thoughts and ideas. He would then combine the best ideas and use them to the best advantage of his project.

We will miss all the good times we had with Ron and will always remember the joy and happiness he gave to the family.
