Joseph Raymond Gatti

October 14, 1928 to May 10, 2020

With deep sadness we announce the passing of Joe Gatti in his 92nd year after a life well lived. Joseph is survived by his cherished wife Mary (nee Pisni) of 70 years. Loving Dad of Carole Ingham (Brian), Paul Gatti (Pam) and John Gatti (Daniela). Beloved Papa to Matthew, Andrea, Laura, Jill, Paula and great papa of Kamyiah, Nova, Liam, Grace and Faith. Loved brother of Vance Gatti and predeceased by sisters Rose Gatti, Carmella Dalianas and Enis Smith.

Joe was born in Transcona, Manitoba to parents Mose and Josephine Gatti both from Codogne, Italy. He left as a young man for Toronto where he met Mary his sweetheart for life. He spent 34 wonderful years with Air Canada in Toronto and retired as District Manager in North Bay. A respected member of his community he was a Rotarian, member of SKAL International, the Davedi Club and a board member for St. Joseph's Hospital. A skilled story teller Joe was known for his sense of humour, sage advice, generous spirit, endless curiosity and gratitude for his life and family. Joe is fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews and many friends in Winnipeg, Toronto, North Bay and Alliston.

A celebration of Joseph’s life will be held at a future date. In Lieu of flowers please donate to the Leukemia Society of Canada, a charity of your choice or make someone smile; it's what dad would have done.

Tributes/condolences may be posted here at the Drury Funeral Centre website.

Dear Mary, Carole, Paul, John and grandchildren,
Mary my deepest condolences at the loss of your beloved husband Joe. I can’t express the sadness I felt when Carole told me of his passing. My heart felt prayers will be offered for Joe and for the whole family. He will be greatly missed. My memories of Joe go back to our wedding back in August 1959 when he so generously agreed to be our best man. I will always remember when Joe, Mary, Carole, Paul and John came to our wedding. Joe and Mary were a team and were great role models for me, the new bride. I will cherish the wonderful memories of Joe, and the wonderful stories he told, and the great parties that were hosted at the Gatti home. May the good Lord welcome you in His embrace and shower you with His Grace.
