Hi Janet,
I am taking this opportunity to write to you at this very sad time with much love and many happy memories of our times in Spain with you and Terry and the rest of the early days gang.
We were so sorry to hear of Terrys passing, Joan kindly phoned me on Wednesday.
We hope you are coping as best any of us can when a dearly loved on dies, so very sad. I lost my Mum just over a year ago in May in fact. It’s a case of one day at a time, and not being concerned if it all gets too much and the only answer is a good cry and wine.
David and I spent last night talking about Terry, and the many happy times we all had together. Hearing his stories of times drinking Vodka in the freezing cold of the North when he was working. Many technical stories which to be fair often had me a bit baffled as to clever for me. I remember him coming up to the house to sort out the telescope which I bought for David one Christmas and we just could not get to function. He reliably informed me that it was for night viewing only. I had bought it so David could use it in the day and so it languishes in the Sotano ever since!
I remember very well that he never got over the fact that the supermarkets in Spain did not pack your purchases for you.
I think Terry had some great years in Spain with the satellite business, and made lots of friends and contacts through this work. The four of us twice going up to visit the guys in Bubion, we always think of those trips when we make that drive and have tried to work out more than once which was their house.
There were so many lovely happy times in those early days of Salobrena and the area. Terrys and your presence, such a major part of our happy times, together with Joan and Mike and various others. Numerous Christmas and new year celebrations. Biff and Ofra, The Stanley’s etc. all great times.
It was great to see you both five years ago at Oliver’s Wedding, and lovely to catch up about your new life in Canada. The crowd that gathered for the wedding slipping easily back in to conversations and laughs and the intervening years slipped away.
We hope very much that the next period will not overwhelm you I can only imagine how tough its going to be for you. Although if you don’t mind me saying, If you can run a house rental and maintenance business for 20 odd years in Spain I’m sure you will find the strength and fortitude to carry you through .
Our thoughts are with you and the family at this very sad time and I do hope that I get through to you on the phone in the next few days.
Thinking of you and much Love
Christine and David
