Wake, Paul Norman
It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Paul Wake on October 10, 2020, at the age of 82. Paul passed peacefully at home with family by his side following a determined struggle with Cancer.
Growing up, farm life nurtured his compassion for animals, soil health and a knack for fixing anything. Trained as a licensed mechanic, Paul appreciated the sound of a fine-tuned motor. He was a loyal car-racing fan and lover all things related to farm equipment and innovation. Paul’s decision to take a position with the Ministry of Transportation ultimately led to a long and successful management career with the Ministry. His passion for maps and geography resulted in many road trips and travel through the years. Politics, current and world events were favourite topics of conversation .His sharp wit and dry sense of humour were appreciated by all who knew him.
He will be dearly missed by his wife Elizabeth (Beth); his children Yvonne Wake (Rick Brown) and Brent Wake (Laura), and Beth’s children Karl De Forest (Rhonda d.2019), and Deanna De Forest (Jerome Macgregor), Shay Gennings and Chad Gennings.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents Norman and Elva, his brother Ralph (d.1964) (Janet) and his wife Arlene (d. 2001),mother of his children Yvonne and Brent.
Lovingly remembered by his siblings Ruth Cowan (Andrew) and David Wake(Jane Nellis), cherished grandpa to Emily and Brook: Ty, Chance (Katrina); Oren and Stroud, and Great Grandpa to Chance Jr., Kodahand Amelia. Paul will also be missed by his extended family and many friends.
Visitation will be held Saturday, October 17, 2020 at Drury Funeral Centre, 519 Victoria St. E., Alliston from 1:00pm until time of Service at2:00pm.A private family burial will take place following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Paul can be made to Animal Adoptions of Flamborough, or a charity of your choice.

Yvonne and Brent saddened to hear of the loss of your dad. Paul was a good friend and neighbour to us as a family and especially dad (Laurie Robinson). Dad who is now 89 and still doing great was over for supper last night and reminiscing
About your dad and some of their antics together. Fixing lawn mowers in drivevway, looking at car motors and talking
Weather and kids and motorists etc.
Your dad and mom helped out with babysitting and many other helpful events. Yvonne remember all the amazing tents we made
In the backyard, playing badminton over the clothes line, planning carnivals, hiking and biking and playing cards.
Although it was many years ago those memories are still special and unique to us.
Wishing you our love and friendship at this time. Laurie Robinson, Gail Anderson (Robinson), Karen Littlewood), Darlene Ormond, and Laura Robinson. Our families are all extended now and it would be great to connect if you want.

Dearest Beth and family, my condolences in the loss of your dear husband, father and grandfather. I had the good fortune to have worked with Paul at the Ministry of Transportation on special assignments of short durations over two decades. Always a pleasure to be with, kind and generous of his time, talents and industry know-how! A man with an enviable work ethic and unwavering dedication to public service. Paul always appreciated a good sense of humour and his own wit and wisdom inflected those within earshot! Although Paul has passed and is deeply missed, I hope we can temper our sorrow with fond memories of his passion for life and family.
With sympathy,
Bruce Stonehouse
