Irene Irvine RN (nee Sedlacek)

Passed away Friday, April 9, 2021 at Matthews House Hospice at the age of 83. Predeceased by her parents Stephen and Ida Sedlacek. She is survived by her Husband of 63 years, Donald, her sister Mary Bruno, Son Steve, Daughters Kim (Randy Holden), Karen (Jeff Druif) and Sandy (Andrew Callin), 6 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren- Lindsey (David Larson & children Tyler, Bruce and Kurt), Tom Holden (Veronica &children Lilyana, Sawyer and Eli), Jeff (Chanel & daughter Cami), Scott, Kevin (Ashley & son Oliver), Callin, Samantha Irvine (Michael & daughters Khloe and Kira)
Irene started Nursing School at Brantford General Hospital and finished the final year at Edith Cavell, Belleville General Hospital with extremely high marks… all the while she was raising 4 children. She worked in the O.R & Mental Health Unit in Belleville and then moved to Bramalea and joined the Peel VON as a Visiting Nurse for 23 years delivering loving care to her patients. She was very proud of getting her education and having a fulfilling career-being a strong woman. Rene knew how to score ball games, count shots on goal in hockey and put up with a grateful husband. She excelled at golf, badminton, table hockey and cards. She loved music (learned 3 chords on a guitar) and concerts, nature, loved to laugh, celebrate and have a good time. She also loved some alone time (solitaire, crosswords, mah jongg, sudoko). But, most of all, she loved her family… her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were everything to her.
Rene’s family would like to thank the PSW’s that visited, Mac from Daisy-a-Day Barrie and all the staff at Matthews House Hospice. Last but not least thank you to Dr. Isabella Kogan and Dr. Nancy Byles. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Matthews House Hospice in Alliston.
A Celebration of Life will hopefully be held in late summer. Please visit druryfuneralcentre.com for details as they become available.

Irene was a special person. I have never met anyone who could make you feel that whatever the two of us were talking about in the moment was so important, Irene made you feel that way. She always gave you her undivided attention and had a way of seeing right into you. Her smile and laugh were infectious, she was such fun to be around.
The world is a little less bright now that she is gone. I know she will be tremendously missed by all who knew her. My deepest condolences go out to Don and the family.

I remember Irene fondly. We met several times during Callin family occasions. She was always kind, full of smiles, and proud of her family ties. I know Sandy adored her and had a special bond with her. That is something to be treasured for sure. Lou and I send our deepest sympathies to the Callin’s. We hope happier times will bring smiles and joy to all.

Don and Irene are very good friends of my parents, Marv and Barb Hall. Along with my brothers, Rich and Brian, we are all very sad to hear this news and are thinking of you all during this difficult time. Irene and mom were very close, particularly during their shared retirements years in Florida. The entire Irving family welcomed my parents into their family and together forged a path of priceless memories. Irene and mom both filled a room with their thunderous laughter and together picked on Marv. They shared a love for golf and lively social gatherings and Irene will be deeply missed by us all. Thank you Irvings for sharing your mom with my mom, she is deeply saddened by her passing, as we all are. Love and hugs, joanne hall.
